Are you passionate about blogging but find it’s hard to stay motivated through the negativity that may accompany explaining to non-bloggers what you do? Or perhaps you’re challenged by divisiveness within your blogging community making it hard to foster relationships? Whether you are plagued by critical comments or that one person creating drama in your online space, this open and honest discussion is for you. Get.That. Dirt off your shoulders!
Let's be real. This Blog Life is not a game! Time management, revenue generation, marketing, networking, travel, work-family-life balance - it's a constant grind. But as the CEOs of our digital brands, the show must go on. Right? And most successful bloggers white-knuckle it through. That hard core approach may work for a time, but the questions are, “is it sustainable?” “What is the hidden cost of just powering through?” Without a strategy to deal with the major challenges of life, then you may end up setting yourself up for a breakdown, physically, emotionally or mentally. To paraphrase Lauryn Hill, If you want to win, you’ve got to get right within.
This Community Conversation will discuss how to develop the resilience you need to keep your brand and blog fresh and amazing, despite personal challenges by discussing questions like:
- What happens when there is major drama in your relationship but you have to go on TV to talk about your work?
- What happens when you’ve just had a private miscarriage but you work as a mom blogger?
- What happens when you have significant money pressure but you have to travel to speak at a conference?
- What happens when you have a health challenge, but you just got an opportunity to take your brand to the next level?
You'll learn how to recognize signs of emotional distress and to address the symptoms of each; set up a support network and create a structure that can help diminish highs and lows.
**RIVERSIDE CHATS WILL BE FILLED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS!**
As women we second guess ourselves, compare our accomplishments to other, and too often view other women as competitors rather than allies. Self reflection can suck sometimes. But it takes a good dose of self realization to step into your own and walk in your true calling. Social media encourages us to tap into our authentic selves while it simultaneously pushes us toward a kind of conformity. But in a real-lived life, rarely are we living ONE singular experience. We are mothers, sisters, brothers, fathers, teachers, business people, artists, etc.: multi faceted and multi-passionate. And we push ourselves to tell stories that speak to our experiences.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a safe space for cross-pollination of ideas inter-generationally, across cultures, and across gender. Using Malcolm Gladwell's story of David and Goliath as a unifying point of connection, and drawing from the 4 types of stories that bloggers usually tell, this workshop will demonstrate how real life challenges can create opportunities. In this way we will broaden and deepen authentic conversations in the world of social media.
You will leave this Chat better able to:
1. Think more broadly. (How to think about things not experienced.)
2. Listen more deeply. (How to listen for understanding in the face of new ideas.)
3. Communicate more authentically. (How to communicate lived life experiences.)
4. Share more compassionately. (How to share others’ stories and expand everyone’s experience.)
5. Produce better content
We'll also discuss branding, rebranding, the perils of over-sharing and ways to create an online personality that is in line with your true self.

MINDSET MASTERY: How to Embrace Fears, Immobilize Self-Limits & Build Your 6-Figure Business With Confidence
Many small business owners go into business with blinders on, convinced that they’re going to Knock it outta the park, Make millions, and Kick back while enjoying the good life for years to come. While it sounds promising, the one mandatory component most new, emerging, and aspiring entrepreneurs don’t factor into their success equation is Mindset Mastery – the ability to develop internal thinking that’s strong enough to immobilize the fears, doubts, self-limiting beliefs, challenges, obstacles and setbacks that WILL show up repeatedly in their journey. Without mindset mastery, entrepreneurs find themselves having a “Grand Opening and Grand Closing” within a 3-5 year timeframe, opting to throw in the towel on the idea they were once passionate about.
In order to be great in business, you need to know where you’re going and generate sufficient revenues to get you there and support yourself along the way. Sure, you may be passionate about what you’re doing, but passion won’t pay the bills and grow your business. Money is the vehicle to make your dreams come true. So, are you really making any money in your business?
During this 60-90 minute session, participants will be guided through exercises to create a “Be Great” Business Action Plan. Participants will identify specific strategic goals, rank the goals in order of financial and emotional impact, develop a clear financial budget to connect to the goals, and finally create specific tactical action items to implement once they have left the session.

Yes, Bloggers Can Win Seed Grants Too!
Seed Grants afford bloggers an opportunity to take any idea they have and create financial opportunities for themselves. As a Seed Grant winner herself, Vernetta Freeney was able to take an event she created and turn it into an award-winning national tour. The Seed Grant was the funding she needed as well as motivation to show her that even though I am a "blogger", my business concept has a place within the market. She will share with other bloggers where the free money is, how to set themselves apart from competitors and how to use the Seed Grant to grow their blog business.
